Some of the hinges were pretty rusted...so I went to Lowes to see if they had a match. They had almost the same exact hinge...just not as well made. I decided to replace the hinges with a silver hinge and repaint the handles. Most of the detail in the trailer is aluminum, with the exception of the antique brassy light covers. I will keep the original hinges, in case I change my mind.

Nice Blog!
We bought the same year Metzendorf last fall- just
started the big renovation this week- exact trailer, same interior...etc...(Kind of creepy, but we tow it with our Outback, too!). We are just finding places to get parts/supplies etc....
Good luck with the restoration- love reading about it!
Hi Daniel,
Would love to see some pics of your Metzendorf. The goucho couch part of mine was eliminated. I don't think I am going to recreate it, but just leave it as a bed.
Just clicked over from cyburbia. Cool project!!
