Wildlife scene during camping.

Well,,,I did see more than black flies. I saw a Pileated Woodpecker, a slew of frogs, butterflies, and hawks. The frogs were really croaking away trying to 'pair up."

Winhall Brook Camping Area, the movie

This little film is a clip of my site at Winhall Brook Camping Area. I took this on Memorial Day...after most people left. Even when there were lots of people there, it wasn't so crazy. In the screen room I have set up a Coleman camping kitched and picnic table. I also use the Coleman hotwater on demand...which works great. I find camping in Vermont much dustier than the Adirondacks in NY. These sites are $16 per night..no electric or water. Some sites are great...others I find bunched up on top of each other.

Gale Meadow Pond

Gale Meadow Pond was a black fly nest at sunset...but better during the day. I caught a perch using trout worms. This is a great place for kayaking.

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day Weekend I set up camp at Winhall Brook Camping Area in Vermont. It is an Army Corp Site. My spot was located right at the confluence of Winhall Brook and the West River. This time my weekend was 5 nights, so I really got to work on figuring out how to set up the camper.

I have a hanging closet that I think I would rather turn into a shelving unit for storage. I used my thule carrier on the ground for suitcases and got clothes as needed. I need more storage hooks near the door for keys, lighters, etc. The solar panel works great for recharging the 12v system. I haven't figured out how I want to route the wire...right now I am shutting in the door. I was doing all my cooking outside...until my butane stove ran out of gas. So, I fired up the burner inside for my coffee. I wouldn't want to cook anything too smelly. Having the propane heater is awesome... it works so well that I actually have to keep a window open. I was about 40 one night.

The First Camp

Jamaica State Campground in Vermont. Was supposed to be crappy weather...ended up being great. I didn't even really need the heater...but tried it out. I drove up in torrential rain...and the front window leaked a little, but just during the drive. Was a great weekend. The pup enjoyed it too. Didn't catch any fish. The mattress from Ikea was amazingly comfy.

The Trial Run

This weekend will be the trial run. I think I have almost everything....if not...a bottle of red will keep me warm. It is supposed to be 63 and cloudy. Woo-hoo.

Campfire Limerick

Nothing too exciting to report, since I am really just packing and organizing.
... I thought I would post some of my bad limericks from last summer....

Cicada Choir
Twas Friday night and she sat by the fire,
Typing away to the cicada choir.
Snap crackle pop.
Nothing could stop.
Words a good bottle of wine do inspire.

Poly dried

well... left for the weekend for Mother's Day. Today I came back and hung up the curtains, cleaned up a little and started packing her up with a few things...gathering all that camp gear! I think the weekend trip will be a good starter. Better just a few nights...and then I will see what I need for a longer trip.

Polly Your a Thang

Today I polyurethaned the shelves... so I can get the curtains installed. I hope to take the dorf on a trip next weekend. I registered her for the summah online. I still want to get mirror extensions. The subaru is fat, and I can't really see that well. Here is the first site we will spend the night at...can't wait. Located on a river in Vermont. The building is a leanto.

Tunes and power!

So I installed the deep cycle battery that I will keep charged with a solar panel. There is one existing 12v light. I installed two 12v outlet plugs and the stereo. The car stereo plugs in satellite, usb, ipod, zune, and cd. It has 6 speakers but I only put in two for now. I want to get some exterior speakers. The stereo also has a remote.. which is why I didn't really care about the location under the table. I wanted it out of view.

Tunes...

Well, been gone for a week at a work conference, but back to work today. Today I went and got a new deep cycle battery for the 12v system and a car stereo. I have a couple of 12v outlets to put in. I am going to use a solar panel to keep the battery charged. Jet lag had me movin a lil slow today.
